Lungora Review: Can a Supplement Improve Oxygen Levels?

“Oxygen flow” and “oxygen utilisation” appear in this product's benefit list. Both sound technical and neither is defined, so it is worth examining what actually governs oxygen in the body.

The short version

Blood oxygen saturation is determined by lung function, haemoglobin and cardiac output. No ingredient here affects any of the three.

What determines your oxygen level

Three things, in sequence. Gas exchange in the lungs — whether oxygen crosses from alveoli into blood, which depends on the alveolar surface and its condition. Haemoglobin — the carrying capacity of your blood, which depends on iron status and red cell production. Cardiac output — whether that oxygenated blood reaches tissue.

A pulse oximeter on your finger measures the first two combined. In healthy people it reads 95–100%, and it does not go higher because haemoglobin is already nearly saturated. There is no headroom to improve.

Why supplements do not move it

If your saturation is normal, nothing can raise it meaningfully — the binding sites are already occupied. If it is low, that is a medical finding with a cause: lung disease impairing gas exchange, anaemia reducing carrying capacity, or a cardiac problem. Each needs identifying.

The only supplement that genuinely raises oxygen-carrying capacity is iron, and only in someone who is iron deficient. Iron is not in this formula, and taking it without deficiency is harmful rather than neutral.

“Oxygen utilisation” is a slightly different claim — how efficiently tissues use delivered oxygen — and CoQ10 and L-carnitine do participate in mitochondrial energy production. But that is cellular metabolism, not oxygenation, and the leap from there to “healthy oxygen flow” in a lung-branded product is doing a lot of unearned work.

If you are worried about your oxygen

A pulse oximeter costs very little and gives you a number in seconds. If yours reads consistently below 95% at rest, that is a reason to see a doctor rather than to buy a supplement — and to mention the specific readings, because a documented number moves an appointment along considerably faster than a description of feeling breathless.

Be aware that oximeters can read less accurately on darker skin tones, in cold hands and with nail polish, and that a normal reading does not exclude lung disease — saturation is often preserved in early COPD. Spirometry remains the test that finds it.

What the seller's own page says

The most persuasive evidence here is not ours. It is theirs.

The official page has a section headed “How Does Lungora Work?” It names three pathways: nerve health support, circulation and cellular support, and antioxidant and healthy aging support. Magnesium and alpha lipoic acid are grouped under nerves. Butcher’s broom and L-carnitine under circulation. Turmeric and CoQ10 under antioxidants.

The section closes by saying the combination is designed to support “healthy nerve function, daily comfort, and overall wellness.” Elsewhere the formula is described as supporting “the body’s natural nerve health pathways.”

Neither sentence mentions lungs. A product cannot be named for an organ and explain itself entirely in terms of a different system without one of the two being marketing.

Independent background reading, none of it selling anything: NCCIH on turmeric, MedlinePlus on dietary supplements and NHLBI on COPD. For the applied version of this on our own pages, see our full independent review or the Lungora official website reference.

What we would do

Take the ingredient list to a pharmacist before ordering — blood pressure, anticoagulant, diabetes and thyroid medication all intersect with this formula. Buy a peak flow meter and record a baseline fortnight before your first capsule so you have a number rather than an impression. Choose the three-bottle package rather than the six, since ninety days is a fair assessment window and it does not leave four months of capsules outside a 60-day guarantee. And diarise day 50 on the day you order.

Frequently asked

See a doctor and ask about spirometry, particularly if you are over 50 or have ever smoked. Breathlessness is not a normal part of ageing and the causes are treatable.

Three bottles if any. Ninety days is a fair assessment window for these ingredients and it keeps your spend closer to what the 60-day guarantee actually protects.

No complaint record was identified on the BBB, Trustpilot or comparable platforms — and no independent positive review record either. That absence cuts both ways.

No. All six actives — magnesium glycinate, alpha lipoic acid, butcher's broom, L-carnitine, turmeric and CoQ10 — are general antioxidant, circulatory or nerve ingredients. NAC, mullein, quercetin, vitamin C and bromelain are all absent.

Disclaimer. This formula contains butcher's broom, a vasoconstrictor that may raise blood pressure, and both turmeric and coenzyme Q10, which affect anticoagulation in opposite directions. Alpha lipoic acid lowers blood glucose. Take the ingredient list to a pharmacist before ordering, particularly if you take blood pressure, anticoagulant, diabetes or thyroid medication. Shortness of breath, a cough lasting more than three weeks, wheezing or coughing up blood require medical assessment rather than a supplement.
